Campus Technology 2007: Roadmap to IT Leadership

Following lunch, attendees may board buses for a short ride to campus to
see the University of Maryland’s innovative technology implementations firsthand.
Select from one of two guided tours, or explore campus highlights at
your own pace with a self-guided tour (pre-registration is required for
campus tours).
Tour I – Robert H. Smith School of Business
Tour Guide: Ben Rose, AV Operations Engineer, Robert H. Smith School of Business
This tour of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, located in Van Munching Hall, provides a close look at how technology is used throughout the building. Facilities include:
- Technology-enabled teaching theaters, classrooms, and auditoriums (video/multimedia capabilities and peripherals, document cameras, digitization and recording, environmental controls, faculty/instructors networked to their presentations and other materials, AV control systems, connection to a central control room, and more…)
- Flexible, technology-enhanced informal learning spaces (wireless throughout, flexibility of informal meeting spaces)
- Innovative labs (Netcentricity Supply Chain Lab, Wall Street feeds, a collaboration lab for team building, and more…)
- Central control room (central monitoring and control of all classroom technology, recording on demand, video streaming, video conferencing, technology assistance/help on demand, closed-circuit as needed, and more…)
Tour II – Distance Education, Research Computing, and Alternative Learning Spaces
This tour is a sampling of several technology applications and centers at the University of Maryland College Park.
