French University Security Deployment: 'C'est si bon!'

After a year of testing, Paris-based Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers said it's satisfied with its deployment of Radware DefensePro as a security solution to protect against intrusion and DoS attacks."Every six months, we found ourselves under attack," said Denis Coree, director of computer systems for the institution. "Our IT system was hit hard, and we experienced service interruptions for nearly a week. However, with the global overhaul of our security, we have not experienced any interruptions. Using DefensePro has enabled us to stop attacks before they even get through to our IT system."
The security program monitors for problems at the application, network and server levels. It protects applications that include Web servers, messaging services, database services, VoIP infrastructure components and workstation-based software. It analyzes network behavior to provide protection against known, unknown and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and blocks the propagation of zero-day attacks. DoS and HTTP flooding attacks are identified and mitigated using behavioral analysis.
The Conservatoire also uses reporting and monitoring capabilities to increase visibility of the blocked attacks in real-time. "By blocking illegal incoming traffic, we can avoid bottlenecks and increase productivity," said Coree.
Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers serves 80,000 students throughout France and employs nearly 2,000 staff and faculty.
