Microsoft Releases System Center Operations Manager 2007 SP1

Microsoft this weekend released an update to its System Center Operations Manager 2007, the company's infrastructure management solution. The final Service Pack 1 release has gone to manufacturing, and the update is also available for download online.
Microsoft said in a blog posting that the new version is designed to make SCOM 2007 easier to support, use, and deploy. It includes enhanced backup and recovery features, new export options, and several workflow improvements. Other new features in SCOM SP1 include:
- Support for publishing reports to multiple locations, including SharePoint sites;
- Improved performance and reliability;
- Enhanced search functionality;
- Enhancements to Audit Collection Services; and
- Simplified creation of new Management Packs.
Upgrades can be downloaded here. A 180-day evaluation version can be found here. It supports Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-Bit x86) and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Microsoft is also rolling out new resources for its Operations Manager 2007 TechCenter, which are available here.
