FileMaker Server 9v3 Adds Leopard Support

FileMaker this week released updates to its FileMaker Server and FileMaker Server Advanced database software, bringing them up to speed with their desktop counterparts. The new v3 releases include Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard support, along with numerous fixes for both Mac OS X and Windows.
FileMaker Server is, as its name implies, a server version of FileMaker's popular database. The Advanced version includes support for up to 100 simultaneous users, access to databases published using Instant Web Publishing, and support for submitting SQL queries or statements to FileMaker Pro databases using ODBC or JDBC clients.
In addition to Leopard support, new features in release 9v3 include:
- Tweaks to the Admin Console for more accurate reporting and improved functionality;
- Various ODBC/JDBC fixes;
- A fix for the Web Publishing Engine on Windows;
- A fix for DTD validation when using port 80;
- E-mail functionality for sending error notifications and other types of notifications;
- New PHP Site Assistant functionality; and
- A fix that makes record IDs consistent across database sessions when using an external ODBC data source in conjunction with Custom Web Publishing.
FileMaker Server and FileMaker Server Advanced 9v3 are available now for Mac OS X and Windows. The updates are available for download free on FileMaker's site. Full versions start at $999 for FileMaker Server 9 and $2,499 for FileMaker Server Advanced 9. Special pricing for upgrades from previous editions is also available.
