Bethel U Integrates Enterasys NAC with Cisco Infrastructure

Bethel University in Minnesota has deployed the Enterasys Network Access Control for more than 7,000 students, faculty, and staff to help manage more than 4,000 networked devices. The NAC provides role-based policy management for security and bandwidth control."Prior to deploying Enterasys, it was difficult for us to determine where our users or devices connected within our multi-campus network," said Bill Doyle, vice president of IT services for Bethel University, in a statement released today. "Now we can identify users and devices and address problems while leveraging role-based policies that prioritize and secure specific applications and users. Enterasys NAC is a flexible solution that scales to meet our dynamic requirements."
Bethel operates sites in St. Paul, MN; New York; Philadelphia; San Diego, CA; and Washington, DC. The sites are connected through a vice, video, and data network to provide distance learning.
According to Doug Olson, the university's network services director, the NAC has been integrated with Bethel's Cisco devices, as well as various other security and networking technologies.
Bethel said it also plans to deploy an intrusion detection and prevention system from Enterasys called Dragon.
Bethel University, located in St. Paul, MN, is a member of the Christian College Consortium and serves about 6,200 students.
