TTUS Implements ConnecTech with SunGard

The Texas Tech University System (TTUS) is in the middle of a four-year implementation of a project called ConnecTech, which is designed to integrate information systems within the TTUS enterprise. As part of the program, the university system has adopted various technologies from SunGard Higher Education, a provider of enterprise solutions for higher education.Through the ConnecTech implementation, TTUS aims to link data for all colleges and schools in the system and make information available on the Web. TTUS will use SunGard's Banner administrative system on Oracle 10g with Real Application Clusters. Banner is an administrative suite for managing student data, financial aid, finance, human resources, and advancement.
"The TTUS has been very successful in recruiting students, retaining them, and helping them graduate. Now, we want to strengthen those efforts," said Kay Rhodes, associate vice chancellor and chief information officer at the TTUS. "The SunGard Higher Education solutions will help us standardize data and improve access to information that can help facilitate more informed decisions which could then lead to increased recruitment and retention of qualified students and faculty. The solutions also will help us create an enhanced Web environment where more resources and applications are available to our faculty, staff, and students 24/7."
The Texas Tech University System serves about 37,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional-track students at Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and, beginning this fall, Angelo State University. It also operates campuses in Amarillo, Permian Basin, El Paso, Dallas, Abilene, Junction, and the Hill Country in Texas.
